The 2023 Oscars are already this Sunday, March 12, 2023, and so far, four of the five nominees for Best Original Song have already confirmed their performances.
Rihanna will perform her hit song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” perhaps the only song of the set to hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Diane Warren, who has yet to win the Oscar for Best Original Song despite being nominated multiple times, is also performing the song ‘Taliyan’ from the film ‘Tell It Like A Woman’ with Sofia Carson.
Best Supporting Actress nominee Stephanie Hsu will fill in for Mitsky for her performance in “This Is a Life” alongside David Byrne and Sun Lux, all nominated for the film “Everything Everywhere All of It X.”
Finally, the hit song “Natu Naatu” from the film “RRR” will make its live awards season debut at the 2023 Oscars, the first Indian song to be performed at the show since “Jai Ho” from “Slumdog Millionaire.” ”
Meanwhile, only one nominee has not confirmed his presence and performance for the show.
Is Lady Gaga Performing At The 2023 Oscars?
Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” for the film “Top Gun: Maverick” was also nominated for Best Original Song. This is the second time a Lady Gaga song and a “Black Panther” movie have topped the category.
Last 2018, it was a close battle between “Black Panther’s” “All The Stars,” a song performed and written by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. They lost “A Star Is Born” to Gaga’s “Shallow.”
As of now, neither Gaga nor the Academy have yet confirmed her performance. But confirmation is still a few days away.
According to Variety, the holdup may be due to scheduling conflicts.
The Grammy and Oscar-prevailing artist is presently filming “Joker: Folly a Deux” along Joaquin Phoenix. She plays Harley Quinn, based on characters from the DC Universe. The Warner Bros. film is expected to release sometime in 2024.
With five more days left in the ballot, it can be said that the Academy is giving all the nominees a big surprise to perform in the last few days before the show.
It’s actually the 95th annual Academy Awards, so it must have been quite a task for the producers to pull off a big show. If the Academy should book Gaga to perform, it will be the first time in three years that all five nominees will be able to perform.
